Thursday Thoughts 13.3.14

Different people have different ways of expressing their fondness for a thing, some like to love it the way it is, some prefer changing it to fit their preferences, some like to respect its freedom, others like it under their full control.

Recently I was watching a movie “Free willy”, it was really tormenting to hear that baby whale crying out for its family, it really sounded like it was calling its mother, I dont know if it was special effect but I dont think so, because i have heard some other animals making similar sounds when they are looking for their mothers.

In today’s world, when every knowledge is available in computer graphic, why torment these creatures by snatching them away from their famillies?

In today’s age, in place of forcing these creatures to live in cages and aquariums to please human beings their robot models should/might be used. The zoos can be used to breed the endangered, almost extinct species, that way it will be fun for human beings and good for animals/birds.

What do you think?

  1. Very good post…I would have to say I agree with you. I am an animal lover and my husband and I both are advocates for all animals, tamed or wild.

  2. I’m somewhat torn on zoos. I think they are okay when they’re done well and can protect endangered animals. However, they are worse than prisons when they’re done badly.

    • we share the same view, i too feel the same, they can be used to protect and breed endangered species, away from the clutches of poachers. If you want to see hell then visit kolkata zoo in summer. Believe me you will start loathing zoos.

  3. I agree with what David said – most of our zoos are equivalent to prisons – barring a few, where the animals rule and we are a visitor in their world !

  4. It is a sad world when people can see almost instinct animals in zoos. In some places this is already true. It is sad we cannot live together and the animals could know the freedom of the forest and the tropics. Old Ojibwa saying. “When the wolves and bears are gone. Man is next.”
