It takes a combination of soft and strong
A deft mixing of flexibility and rigidity
To gracefully move through maze of life
To survive this glorious wilderness called earth.
Soft vines rot easily, gentle grass is chewed alive,
Tall, weak bamboo snaps but sturdy oaks thrive.
Just like oak we need strong roots, trunks and branches,
To stay alive, make our mark in world’s forest.
Strong roots going deep in knowledge
Softly bringing in love, peace, transformation
To let them run through our veins every moment
While we face storm, termites and sun.
Bending ourselves without losing dignity
Transforming when it must be done
Growing toward God with all we have
Keeping ourselves free of weeds of all sort.
