  1. So you have to be a certain height, weight, etc., in India too? My mom’s place of birth, if you’re not a certain height and the right weight (slightly under what your ideal weight is but not too much because it ruins the aesthetic), people, even strangers, will permit themselves to make all sorts of remarks. And your family will back them up. It is drilled into your head how you should look, eat, talk. Of course if you don’t fit the look, even your boyfriend (and his family) will let you know, because “criticism builds character.” Not critique, criticism. I don’t even think they have a word for critique.

But come and visit, especially if you’re from a “desirable” country (i.e. no darker than dark hair and brown eyes with light skin but even brown hair will get you called dark) they will bend over backwards to be hospitable (because they know you will return the favor, and who doesn’t like to travel, though since their country is so great they never want to leave it. Except to make money). If you’re darker they will look down on you and complain, forgetting how they themselves infest any country they think will give them more money, constantly complaining about how the new place is so much worse than back home, which is perfect in every way. So perfect they couldn’t wait to leave.

Didn’t mean to hijack your post. Can you tell I’m not a fan?!

      • Again, the other country. But she has to be local. None of that ethnic stuff thank you very much. 🙄 How these people survive, is completely beyond me. They spread like cockroaches, too. But then spout racism. Sure, I’m all for idealism, but know when reality hits. What if she’s not pretty but great with people?
